30 Day Create Challenge
COMING FULL CIRCLE
Today, you are going to practice drawing circles free hand. Draw a circle around an object which is about 3-4 cm diametre. Draw the circles freehand over and over focusing on a smooth round circle. Fill the page with it returning to where you started.
Draw a simple organic shape with pencil, then turn this shape into a animal with eyes, nose, mouth, legs and a tail.
COLOUR MY WORLD
As you walk about your day today, look for striking colour complementary's (like red / green, blue /orange, yellow / purple), and take a photo of it to share with a friend.
Find a patch of grass and lie down for 10 minutes and watch the clouds go by. Use your imagination to make animals, faces, or anything you like from them.
FULL OF HEARTS
Today, you will be shown lots of hearts, it is your job to find them today. Look for rocks, water marks, clouds, patterns, they all have some heart in them.
ALWAYS WITH ME
Take a photo of your shadow in a interesting environment which says something about where you are.
Learn to make a simple origami animal.
Buy some cut flowers today and arrange them in a vase in your living space or at work.
LINE IN THE SAND
Use a stick to draw something in some sand or dirt today. Find some in the park, at the bus stop, or in the garden. It's not permanent so rub it out, or leave it for the birds.
Find a simple line drawing, turn it upside down and try to copy it without thinking about what it is. Just focus on the lines and shapes. When your done, turn it round and match.
STRAIGHT AND NARROW
Today, we will practice drawing a straight line without a ruler. On an A4 page, hold the pencil at the top of the page and pull it towards you with a clear intention of a point to stop at. Repeat that again next to the previous line trying not to overlap the last line. Keep doing this giving yourself enough space to rest your hand on the page each time.
When you serve your meals today, make them look like something else like a face, or an animal. Share the creation with a friend for a laugh.
FINDING YOUR LETTERS
Look for shadows and objects today that make up letters of the alphabet. See how many you can find. Record them with your phone. Invite a friend to be part of it and try to make a photogram of your name from your letter photos.
Put 4-6 books from your shelf on top of one another and line up the titles to make a poem, swap books to get different meanings.
Schedule some time each day to concentrate on some type of creative project. You won't be able to develop your creative talents if you don't make time for them. Keep going!
Set your alarm for half hour earlier to capture your dreams. Write them down and do a little drawing for yourself from one of the parts. Use colours if you can.
Plan a perfect holiday somewhere in the world.
Spend at least 15 minutes doodling on a page today whilst listening to some of your favourite music. Be aware of your emotions and let the creative juices flow, no judgements, no expectations.
COLOUR ME IN
Draw some random overlapping shapes on a small page. Use warm colours like yellow, orange, and red for the shapes. Then shade in the background using cool colours such as green, blue, and purple.
When approaching a problem today, utilise "what if..." questions to consider each possible scenario. If you take a specific approach, what will the outcome be? Creative thinking helps.
Venture into nature today and find organic objects like flowers, sticks, leaves or rocks and create a decorative pattern with them. It can be a radiating design, or a little construction of these into an aesthetic order such as biggest to smallest, brightest to darkest, etc.
MUSIC TO MY EARS
Find objects around the house or workplace and repurpose them to make music from them like a bell, or a drum. Make some music.
Use a piece of chalk to draw around the shadow of an object at three different times of the day. See how the shape changes throughout the day.
Draw a freeform shape, then try to copy that shape again next to it.
MORE THAN A LINE
Draw 6 expressive lines that convey different emotions. (eg. joy, sadness, anger, confused, love, and growth.)
Use your hands to make something today.
HOUSE OF CARDS
Build the tallest house of cards you can.
Dance like no one is watching and enjoy the feeling of freedom. Make your heart pump, and glow with self love.
Look for the beauty in nature and capture it on your phone. The azure blue sky with plants contrasting leaves and branches, vibrant flowers, colourful rocks, little colourful fungi. Look close and far.
KEEP MOVING FORWARD
Reflect on the last 30 days and chose something you want to continue with. Sign up for a class in drawing, or something you have enjoyed doing. Reward yourself for your efforts. Congratulations!
